I think tom has blackhead.
Tom is 2 1/2 years old.
Hard time standing, head hanging, no gobbling or strutting. diarrhea.
looks like he is dying.
Tom has been sick for over 48 hours now.

I am giving him spoons of cayenne water.
Started last night and will do this three times a day.

I am trying to find vitamins and electrolytes for animals but can't.

I live in a rural area.
Its the start of a long weekend, so many places are closed.
Can I use people electrolytes and vitamins?

I don't have a clue what vitamins a turkey needs in this situation.

The hens are doing a vigil by toms side.
I never heard then make the noises that they are doing beside tom.
Its like they are singing a song to him and are worried for him.

I just cayenne peppered the water and food for the hens.
They seem to be fine so far.

Anything else I can do?
Should I give the poults in the coop (had no contact with tom) some apple cider vinegar or cayenne pepper in their water?

Any opinions are well come here.
Thanks.

Metronidazole (Flagyl or Fish-Zole) is what he needs for blackhead, IMHO. In addition to that, I would tube fluids to him.

Thanks Kathy

Doesn't look like I can get any of those here.

It needs a vet prescription and it is Saturday on a long weekend.
Emergence fees apply which comes down to ridicules amounts of money.
$ 25 call in fee and a $ 95 consultation fee.
And then the cost of the pills added on makes it $160 before tax.

The way the system is made it is cheaper for a farmer to save a new tom for next years breeding as to paying the system of doctors and pharmacist's to save the sick tom.

Its the same system for man kind, what does that say about mans future?

Going to town to get electrolytes and vitamins.
I hope the cayenne works.

ps:
(i know a lady that works for the vet so i left her a message on her home phone
to see if there is a back door.)

Well the tom died.

It was weird, the dog was right beside the fence sitting with it.
And the second the tom died the hens which were 20 feet away all started to make some strange noises and tried to come closer to see.

They knew instantly without seeing it.
