Hi Everyone as you know I am new and just "inherited" or actually babysitting my friend's toulose gosling. I am concerned because s/he is not acting normal. Not interested in food, not following me around, just sits and cheeps. Her or his chest (under beak) area is wet but hasn't been in water. Bowel movements runny and dark. Don't know what to do. Please offer any suggestions, I cant afford a vet visit.

What are you feeding it? any discharge coming out of it nares, mouth?

I have been feeding it green leaf lettuce, chopped roma tomatoes, yellow corn, carrots, and some plain cheerios. There must eb some discharge coming but I don't see it - the chest area looks wet. Thank you

Why are you not feeding it real goose food? like crumble? it has to have a balance nutrients and vegetable matter isn't doing it, it's starving. You need to go to the local feed store and buy it some Gosling /duckling starter feed or chick starter ASAP. It needs the greens but also it needs the balance of feed.

OMG thank you. I found one store and they only sell 25 lb bags and I have no access to car till the weekend. Is there anything else I can do immediately in the interim?

Do you not have anyone who can go to Tractor Supply or take you to one or a feed store, I know TSC sells smaller bags of chick starter I have seen it. and while you are there pick up some poultry vitamins and start adding them to it's water. I am sorry to say if you wait till the weekend it maybe to late. and also when feeding anything other than starter they need grit to be able to process these greens and things your feeding it they don't have teeth to chew.

That baby is starving and needs good waterfowl growth and you have to have someone who can go to the store and get the baby feed. Are you letting the baby eat grass outside? The need grass and dandelion leaves to eat. If you let the baby eat some grass and it will find grit out there also. If you do not do something soon this goslings is going to die..
