sick, white runny poop, just laid weird egg....Please Help!! (pic)

Fiesty, our two year old RIR is not herself. She is quite, has low appetite and white runny poop. I checked the poop guide, and it looks a lot like the white runny bubbly poop that the description says cause is unknow. Her tail is down and she is a bit sluggish. She is standing and walking, but moving slower than usual, and looking confused. Her crown color is bright red.

We have been giving her yogurt and some cooked egg, and a little bit of bread. Normally she is a very aggresive eater, but we are having to feed her by hand. Crop is not full or hard.

Could this just be a common upset, or should we be concerned.

Any information would be helpful. We don't want to see this get worse.

2) What is the behavior, exactly.
Sluggish, white watery poop, wheezing
3) How long has the bird been exhibiting symptoms?
Just noticed today she was in nexting box for a long time and she never laid an egg, but there was the white, bubbly runny poop in the nesting box. Since we started to notice she has had multiple runny poops.
4) Is there any bleeding, injury, broken bones or other sign of trauma.
No other signs of trauma.
5) What happened, if anything that you know of, that may have caused the situation.

6) What has the bird been eating and drinking, if at all.
We have given her a little yogurt, egg, and plain water, but she is not very interest in is, which is VERY unusual for her.
7) How does the poop look? Normal? Bloody? Runny? etc.
Runny, white and bubbly.
8) What has been the treatment you have administered so far?
no, the only thing I have at home right now is Aureomycin.
9 ) What is your intent as far as treatment? For example, do you want to treat completely yourself, or do you need help in stabilizing the bird til you can get to a vet?
depends on what it is.
10) If you have a picture of the wound or condition, please post it. It may help.
11) Describe the housing/bedding in use
Pine shavings in nesting box, but they free-range in yard most of the day.


They were just wormed a month ago with Wazine in water followed by Ivomectin drops on neck.

Please, any information to help her. She really isn't acting her normal self. Very sluggish and not eating.

Sorry thay you're having difficulties.

How long ago did she lay her last egg? If it's been a while, she may be egg bound. Gently palpitate (press gently while moving hand and fingers around) her tummy between her legs and around her vent. If you feel a hardish lump, it's possible she's got an egg stuck in her. If it's a stuck egg, there's some excellent threads on egg-bound or egg - binding you can access by doing a search on the above menu bar.

The white runny poop can be a sign of malnutrition. I would either scramble and egg or give her some hard-boiled egg yolk as some nutrition. Also, you can get some Poly-vi-sol vitamins at certain grocers in the baby food section. Get the kind without iron.

Separate her from the rest of the flock and keep her warm and comfortable.

Other than this, I couldn't tell you what's going on with her.

She just laid an egg that came out all separate. Yolk, white, and shrivelled shell. We do give them oyster shells. Just want to know if this is what was making her sick, or if what wa making her sick made her lay that egg.

Thank you fiberart....we are feeding her egg and some crumble we have for our chicks. Here is the picture of what she laid. I still am wondering if it was the egg that made her sick or if her being sick made the egg not form correctly.

I have a hen that has been doing this - I've gotten three soft eggs and she has horrible runny poop (she let out a loud yelp the first time she pooped like that!) I started her on oyster shell for the eggs and gave her organic yogurt for the tummy and all the symptoms have let up. I would not consider her 100% just yet since I haven't gotten a good egg from her and the poo isn't quite back to normal, but I hope this helps your situation...at least you know you're not the only one.

Fiesty is back to normal and has laid many eggs since. We did give her egg and yogurt (ours is homemade too) and that seemed to help her get her stregth. Normal eating now and normal poop. Thanks for everyone help!
