I have a 3 year old wyandotte who was laying fine and very healthy. 3 days ago she started laying down and not her usual self. Today she is not up at all. She is having a water discharge from her mouth. I have her seperated from the rest of the flock. I have checked her for egg binding, none. I checked her crop and that is fine as well. I don't think she will make it.
Love my flock of 32!

She sounds like she could have a respiratory infection or a blockage in her digestive system. Does she have normal droppings? Have you taken her temperature?
If water comes out of her beak when her head is lowered, it might very well be a blockage in her digestive track. I would check her crop and palpitate her abdomen to see if you can feel any obstruction. Good luck.

Her crop feels soft. Her droppings are normal, greenish. Her throat is clear. I don't have a thermometer. I have offered her water and some lettuce but she won't try either.
Thank-you both, I will try anything for her.

Do you have any needle-less syringes? Try making a slurry of feed & some warm water & dribble that in the corner of her mouth, but be careful not to overdo it. You could drown her. Or try some yogurt. She really needs to eat & drink something.

I just gave her some water with an eye dropper. She stood up and started to walk and had a very watery diarrhea, yellowish. She walked away and now is back down. My husband is going to buy a thermometer.

Vaseline up the end & tell her to think warm thoughts.
