Sick wyandotte

I inserted the thermometer into the vent. Her temp is 104.8
My concern is that she may have picked up something from the wild bird life that we have so much of. We live in the woods, the foothills of CA.
I will keep posting. Linda

Yep, she's got a fever. And yes, chickens can get many diseases from wild birds and rodents. Just keep trying to feed & hydrate her. If you caught it in time, she'll bounce back. When her appetite gets a little better, feed her some foods that are high in vitamins A & K, especially vit. A. Vitamin E is also good for the immune system.
Some foods high in vit. A are: broccoli, butternut squash, carrots, sweet potatoes, pumpkin, mangoes & tomato juice. Spinach & peppers for K, and sweet potatoes for E.
If you have any of these veggies, boil them up until they are soft & chop them into bite-size pieces or mash them with a fork.
Hope this helps her!

THANK-YOU!

My birds also love scrambled eggs when they are not feeling well. Sometimes the only thing I can get down them. Have you isolated her in case it is contagious? The other chickens may pick on her if she is sick. Good luck.

My wyandotte made it through the night. Yes she is seperated from the rest of the flock. This morning she took a drink on her own and alittle crumbles and yogurt! She is moving slow still.
Thank-you for all your advice.
Linda

I am so glad to hear that! Hopefully she will be on the mend.
Keep trying to get food & water into her. She needs nutrition to be able to fight back.

Wyandotte not feeling good this morning. Sometimes it just takes forever, at some point all I can do is keep her comfortble in her own area. We hate to have to put them down. She had fluid coming from her beak again and it smells sour. Her crop is soft though.

How are her stools? Still diarrhea? You said it started greenish & watery, then yellowish & watery. Any change? Any foamy look to it, or any white in it? Sorry for all the ?????, but I'm trying to figure out what she has.
