One of my eggs has a sideways Air Cell. So far there is good veining & movement. Will the chick be able to hatch ok? Is there anything special that may need to be done to help? It's only day 8 so still a ways to go.

Was this a shipped egg or an egg that was laid with an unusual air cell?

If you're currently incubating it on its side, you could try incubating it upright (e.g., in a carton) to see if the air cell will migrate to the proper place (the large end of the egg). If it doesn't, I'd keep a close eye on it in lockdown because it's possible that the chick could internally pip away from the air cell and need help. This article by Pyxis has helpful information, should an assisted hatch become necessary.

Best of luck!

Thank you. The egg is from my favorite Black Australorp & it's

upright in the egg turner. I was hoping there might be a way to position it to encourage any further cell expansion in the right direction. But probably wishful thinking.
