I've read that having a fan going near the crib helps to prevent the possibility of carbon dioxide "pooling" around the face that someone else mentioned earlier. Maybe you could put a small fan by his crib to improve circulation.
we have the fan going because i cant sleep without one and i have the air conditioner on..i dont know, i think he is ok but i wish that they were more clear on why the guidelines are what they are.

I dont know. but i just read a thing that said that sids dropped by 50% when people started having babies sleep on their backs.... but i dont really know if thats true or not..
I also would be worried about the choking on the vomit thing.... babies spit up alot... if they are on their backs i would assume that they would choke on it... ugh... i dont know..
oh no he cant roll over, but when he is on his side, he manages to flip over onto his tummy where he sleeps so much better..no, hes not THAT strong yet.
he wont let me swaddle him anymore either which also makes it easier to flip over.
he will be a month old on monday.
the whole back to sleep thing is just strange because they were so militant about them not sleeping on their backs before..they had the same statistics and everything. i dont know what to believe.
I'm so glad my kids are grown and I don't have to worry about the latest recommendations.
My daughter was what they call a "near-miss SIDS" and was on a monitor until her first birthday.
Back in the day we put them to sleep on their stomachs. If I had had to put them to sleep on their back I would have worried too much about them choking to death.
its enough to make me want to fast forward until he is 4 months old!
but of course it IS rare right? i mean, i dont know of anyone personally who had it happen so i shouldnt worry too much. but i do. obviously!
we ALL worry about it, I still check on the kids at night before I go to bed just to make sure the blankets aren't around their heads etc. I personally don't know anyone either
