The British actor David Suchet played Hercule Poirot for the BBC's series based on Agatha Christie's books. I saw an interview with him where he was still in costume, talking about playing the famous Belgian detective. It was kind of funny, because he kept slipping in and out of the French accent. He said he usually managed to not do the accent when he was off set, but he had occasionally (as he put it) "taken it home with me." He said his family were good about helping him to leave his work at work, his son, particularly, would tell him to not be an idiot, or something like that.The Princess is walking around the house speaking with a British accent.
