*sigh* might be the end of the road for me

If you are outside the city limits the city laws and ordinances do not apply to you. You need to see your county codes. Ask to see it in writing if you can't find it online.

This is true! My city laws used to have limits (which I think they don't anymore) but I am outside the city limits so I never had to follow them anyways!!!

You are FREE to do as you please where you are... no worries!

i called the county zonig office and found that we are zoned for R-2.

then i found that the definition of R-2 inclues: Gardening and agricultural uses incidental to residential use.

Even though I am no where near any kind of city limits I was so afraid that Animal Control was going to be paying me a visit one day (because of my rooster.) So, I searched and searched online until I found a county zoning website that shows my actual piece of property with a big fat AR code plastered on it.

You may be able to find something like that if you really look for it. Best wishes to you!

Oops, posted too soon. Sorry about the bad news.

that ordinance is a small part of a larger ordinance regarding agriculture.

my property is zoned R-2. in this county chickens are considered "farm animals" and it's only legal to have farm animals on land that is zoned A-C

Does "incidental to residential use" really make owning chickens illegal? That doesn't make sense to me. Can you call anyone and see if you're reading that right?
