Ok got 9 chicks out of 12 developed eggs. Not bad for me!!! The 3 remaining eggs just never pipped, didn't even pip the air cell. The yolks were fully absorbed but no pipping. It was pretty much chaos in there so I'm not sure if they got rolled too much or why they didn't make it.

In any event I have 3 new silkie feathered easter eggers and 6 silkies. Probably get pics tomorrow.

I have 5 showgirl eggs that are due to hatch tomorrow...

Ok an update. It's been a long day... Showgirl eggs were supposed to hatch today. Well these eggs had been through the postal service masher and many had loose air cells so I was leery of how the hatch was going to go. I kept a very close eye on the eggs and looked for movement or pipping and listened for peeping. Things didn't seem to progress very quickly or well. So, due to the fact that I've had waaaay to many fully formed yolk absorbed chicks in eggs shipped eggs that never pip and just die in the egg, I decided to intervene. I know this is controversial, I also understand the ramifications, do I want to produce lines that don't hatch.. etc etc.

All this being said I did intervene. I eventually manually hatched 4 chicks. The remaining 2 eggs didn't develop. I lost one chick very early on, I suspect I went too fast with it, but it seemed so weak and fading and had not even pipped the air cell yet... so sad. However, at least I did get 3 showgirl chicks. It's possible that the chicks would have eventually struggled out on their own. But it's also possible, I would have eggtopsied yet another 4 perfectly formed chicks dead in the shell.

Oh and here is what everyone else was doing while I was involved with the hatcher...
