I had horrible heartburn with my first. I ate tums like they were smarties.

Drinking lots of cold water helped me.

Course he'd then arch his punkinhead straight into my bladder.

I know your pain! I went through a bottle of Maalox every week for 20 weeks. I took a swig a couple of hours before my son was born and that was the last of it! No more heartburn.
BTW... Blake was born with tons of hair. He even had a hairy back!

It's not hairy anymore, thank goodness!!

Oh, I feel for you. I suffered with the worst heartburn when pg. I drank Mylanta by the giant economy sized bottles. I prefer a lemon flavor. The cherry makes me shiver.

I've never heard of starch but my grandmother always used baking soda mixed in a glass of water.

I only ate cereal for the last 2 months of my pregnancy.... everything else would give me heart burn.... EVERYTHING!!!

I've never been pregnant, but my younger sister had an INTENSE craving for cheese with her youngest child. My sister HATES, and I do mean HATES CHEESE!!! She ate cheese for just under 9 mos. As soon as that baby was born, she couldn't even LOOK at cheese, and won't touch it to this day. Also, before she even knew she was pregnant, she had the exact same dream with EACH of her three children. She dreamed she was sitting on a creekbank fishing, and everything in the dream was GRAY -- the water, the sky, the grass, the trees, the fish...she described it like it was a strange scene from a black & white TV that was stuck in the midshades of gray. She was catching fish like crazy, but everything was gray. That was it -- the entire dream. The first time was strange enough, and a few days later she discovered she was pregnant. Since she had the dream again only about 2 mos. after her first baby (girl) was born, she thought, "OH, NO WAY!!" uh, yes, way.

When she had it that third time, she was

ah, sometimes there are some strange happenings around us.... !!!

ETA hope i didn't hijack your thread, and I hope your heartburn subsides quickly! Try the chewable Rolaids you can get OTC. I get severe heartburn & GERD (not due to pregnancy, just my physiology) and have found Prevacid to work better than any other Rx for me. Congrats on your upcoming addition!

I had entire pregnancy long, 24/7 heartburn with all three of my boys. I LIVED on tums!!! Kept a bottle everywhere I might happen to be. My first one and my last one were totally bald. My middle one had almost more dark black hair than me....and never lost a single hair!!! It stood straight up, too!! Oh, and I used to absolutely LOATHE bananas. Couldn't touch one. With my second pregnancy I was eating like 5 a day.....hated them even then, but I HAD to have them. Pregnancy is sooooooooo strange!

I was wondering - do you get heartburn when you drink water? I can remember dreading having to drink my daily water knowing that the heartburn was coming very soon!

But when I was pregnant, I would drink like three glasses of chocolate milk everyday! The night before I had Blake, my milk craving was out of control. I drank five glasses of chocolate milk. Ugh... it just grosses me out thinking about it!

water doesn't give me heartburn, just everything else. i haven't really had special cravings but we can talk about food and everything sounds good.i think i have eaten more peanut butter lately than ever before. i think my mom told me women ate anchor brand starch? by the box for heartburn before they had tums ect...
