As of about a week ago all four girls are laying. They're combs got darker and the started doing the squat thing before they started to lay. In the week before they started laying each of them spent more time in private, in the coop or a secluded spot, playing with grass, leaves and nesting material. The RIR and RSL are quiet about laying, the EEs want everyone to know and make a huge fuss. My RSL pullet was the first to start laying, and has had some interruptions, double yolk eggs and weird eggs. They all started laying between 16 and 20 weeks. The first EE laid her first egg exactly 4 months after we got her as a few day old chick. It so exciting to get the first eggs. My dh even loves to check for eggs.
