Signs of a Child Molestor/Sexual Predator

What do y'all think is the appropriate age to teach children? I recently read where a daughter (age 4) was taught about private parts. Her dad was shaving and the towel slipped off of his waist as he was shaving. He left it on the floor and the daughter walked in and saw his private parts. She told mommy she saw daddy's private parts. He went to jail until it could be sorted out.

At what age is a child able to fully understand the difference?

OMG! You got to be kidding me!!!!!!!!!!!! Now that's extreme! Fortunately my DD never saw my hubby's privates because he would literally cover himself or holler and screamed for me to get her out of the bathroom LOL! My DD would just thought it was a game seeing her Dad scrambling to cover himself and laughed about it. I told her next time Daddy is in the bathroom, let him know you wanted to go pee while he takes his shower, not when he is out or shaving by the sink.

How did this father get out of jail? How long was he in there for? How did the story sorted itself out????????

Oh my goodness!

When my kids were babies I taught them the proper names for their private parts. I only use the word 'private parts' for this thread. In real life, I do use the correct terminology.

When I was teaching them their body parts like nose, eyes, mouth, I also pointed at their private parts and said the correct name.

They would point to their eyes and say 'eye', nose and say, "nose' and the same with their private parts.

I took baths with all my kids until they were three years old. So, I guess that I would have to be in jail now.

If my three year old daughter said that she saw her daddy's parts, I would ask what they actually saw. If I had no reason to suspect that anything inappropriate had occurred then I would have just told her to knock before she entered the bathroom. No reason to make a big deal over something like that.

The mother must have been the one to call the cops. I wonder why she didn't just question her daughter more or her hubby? There must be more to the story then the news is reporting.

Hmmm. So we scrape off the cubscout sticker and tape on an NRA sticker?
I just never thought of that. Thank you for the wake up.
I wish perverts would just vanish from this earth.

I have a problem similiar to the OP's husbands. I love kids. In my work and as a foster parent I couldn't survive if I didn't. I'm about 5'6 to 5'7 ish without my boots and about 220lbs. Many of the scars on my arms, neck and face are visable, but many have faded over time.

I guess in an unconscious effort to seem less intimidating (and trust me, I don't do it on purpose) I am a hugger and I love to laugh and crack jokes. People at first are always uneasy around me. I don't know if it is because I look more like a gorilla or my smokers low pitched voice, but once they get to know me I'm ok. And like I said, I love all kids.

Being the oldest of close to 15 sibs there is well........ more than a 15 year difference between me and the youngest. And I have kids the same ages of their aunts and uncles. I treat my kids and everyones the same, and I think honesty, the stranger danger/good touch bad touch is something that should be practiced at a young age. Like another poster said... 4 or 5 when they can start to comprehend things like that.

Keep your kids close to your heart, and trust your instincts. They are our future.

I don't remember all the details ~ I'm not sure if the daughter made the statement to another adult who then alerted the police or if mom did. I'd have to see if I can find the article.

when my children were young we had a neighbor who mom worked straight afternoons and dad worked days...

dad was the one to give the kids baths before bed. DD was in the tub and dad bathed her, she was at school the next day and they were talking about good touch and bad touch and she piped up and said well daddy touched my bum last night in the bath.

Childrens services were called and the children were taken out of the home before the end of the day, dad was charged because when he was asked by the detectives if he has touched his DD bum last night he said well yeah she had a bath

this went on for 3 years before all charges were eventually dropped.

the trauma led to the family being split
dad lost his job during the whole thing
lost the house

all because of a misunderstanding

Yep. I have been going over that with my kids a lot lately. Just trust your instincts and it is all right to be rude sometimes.
