I have 1 of my 3 girls laying one egg a day now. I know which it is because she was first to get her wattles, and turn red. I am waiting for the othe 2 to get on it, but it is coming. I know what the squat is now that I have seen it... So funny. I knew for sure they were getting ready when I startled her and she hit the squat position, as if submitting to a rooster. I guess like a cat in heat. Then when I was in bed asleep, (I work graveyard shift) she was carrying on for about 10 minutes while laying an egg. It scared my neighbor and he had to peek over the fence to see what was going on! She is much quieter now.
She doesn't use the nest box, but under the nest box. Oh well, I don't mind. Good luck, its coming...
