What type of quail? Natural colored Coturnix can be sexed as soon as the breast feathers come in. Speckled breast are female and rusty colored with less/no speckling are male. Other colors you'll usually have to wait until they begin to call. Not sure about other types like Bob whites.

Yeah i was going by my courtaix quail but as been said depends on what type x

I don't know of any quail that can be reliably sexed at only a week of age by behaviour. I did have one chick that crowed before it even got out of the incubator (and I even caught it on video), but that's the very rare exception, not the rule.

They are celadon coturnix but they are going to be white, Tibetan, rosetta and tux. I believe they are all not feather sexed varieties

None of the colours you mentioned are feather sexable. You're going to have to wait until they start crowing and laying or you can vent sex them.

I assumed. I was more curious if anyone had a "trick" that they believed worked. I plan on vent sexing mine at 6 weeks.

Well I have noticed that every chick that screamed for attention for the first week has been a male for me. They seem to suddenly stop liking to be held at about the three week mark and start bonding more with hatch mates. I have had the absolute hardest time sexing Tibetans, I had a group that came to maturity right as the light changed so the hens did not lay until a few weeks ago and I was shocked to find eggs in my "boys condo". I had a heck of a time checking vents on everyone. I won't breed that color anymore, the stock I have is really aggressive too, especially towards silver birds. I hope you have better behaved lines! At least with Coturnix you only have to wait about 8 weeks to know for sure on most birds.

I did have a quail king chick that started growing in male colours at a week and a half old, but that was a rare exception.
