Awesome! Thanks so much for the pics - Beautiful bird. I'd love to see this little critter as an adult too! My EE hens are fully bearded gals. One has a rose comb and the other a pea comb. Definitely going to let the girls hatch some out next season.

This one does seem to have muffs and a beard, or at the least muffs. I'm waiting to see how it turns out ultimately. It also appears to have a little pea comb, which I consider a good thing. The parents aren't mine - I got the eggs from a local woman who sells them for eating. Cochin roo, EE (She called it Americana, I'm assuming EE) hen. From a blue egg.

They are just pets, yes. A nice, low maintenance pet. They love belly rubs and treats and are just all around a good time. The neighbors all love them and give them apples and lettuce as treats. We even took Whipple in the car to a retirement/dementia care facility where my mom just retired from and she went around the room and said hello to all the old folks and gently took bananas from them. She had impeccable manners and the old folks just loved her.

No. At the Milwaukee County Zoo we can at 9 am.

That's so neat. My child wants one of these pigs so bad. She's got at least a dozen kune kune pics saved to her Pinterest board- the little nerd she is. I'll have to show her your baby and tell her about them. She likes the spotted ones.

Update: I am SOOO proud of the job this Momma is doing. Every time I come near she gets close to baby and puffs up. I'm just so in love. Can you tell I'm in full on chicken mode today? I had a bantam Cochin hatch two chicks for my neighbor once but they took them away from Momma and to their house to a brooder the day after they hatched so I missed all of this process. This is my first ever chick to have hatched FOR MYSELF! Oh and it's an olive egger- at least an F2 bc it came from an olive egg! I have been trying to get an olive egger since I started my flock last year. I do hope this baby is a pullet!
