When i got my 6 baby chicks I thought I had 2 Blue Laced Red Wyandottes, 2 Silver Laced Wyandottes and 2 Buff Orpingtons. My 2 Black chicks have a couple of white tip wing feathers, they are about 8 weeks old and have black feet. What do you think I have?

I am not sure what type it is but it's not a silver laced wyandotte. The one in front is my eight week old silver laced wyandotte.Does the other one look similar? She's very pretty still.

Both varieties of Wyandottes have chipmunk patterned chicks, not black. What did they look like when you first got them? Solid black or more penguin like? There are several black breeds - Austrolorps and Giants being the most common.

they were yellow and black...both look just alike.

my gold laced wyandottes have black feet, and are mostly black with very little gold yet. I've read that as they age and molt their feather pattern changes quite drastically.

Did they look like this as chicks?

Or maybe like this?

These are both black australorp. I'm thinking there is a possibility you could have gotten them. Mine had white tipped wings until about 10 weeks when they molted them off. Mine also have dark legs and white nails.

Yes, that's exactly how they looked, think I know what I have now! Thank you so much!
