I have always wanted a silkie and I got two, but both turned out to be roosters. I want to get either a silkie hen or a regular hen to integrate into my flock. Any tips on introducing them to each other? I have 9 other birds right now and plenty of room for another.

What breeds are your other chickens? In general silkies should be kept with other silkies or other gentle bantam breeds. They often will get pecked and bullied in a flock with standard breeds. I definitely wouldn't add a single silkie to a group.

In the flock I have, my silkies are actually my trouble makers! There is one in my flock that will go up against our largest chicken and try to challenge when they're free ranging, doing the chest bumping thing. I guess it's like little man attitude or something. So bizarre!
