My silkie just started having this white crusty layer of skin near her ear and towards her eye about 1 to 2 weeks ago. Any suggestions on what it is and what I should do? It’s not very cold here, all the other chickens seem fine etc. I have attached pics. Thanks for all advice!

Birds do get scaly face mites, but they are less common. Usually Ivermectin is the treatment for those. Another possibility is a fungal infection, called favus. Treatment is an over the counter antifungal ointment, miconazole (monistat or the generic), or lotrimin applied twice a day to the area. That is what I would try first, if you don't see some improvement then I'd treat for the mites. If you have a vet then a skin scraping would answer for sure. Below is a picture of a bird with pretty bad favus.
