We brought home 4 silkies in January, 3 of which have turned out to be boys. We plan to integrate the lone girl with our older hens, but are not sure what to do about the boys.

We're learning towards a bachelor pad, wanted to know what others thought and if there are any tips for making this successful?

I did read that you could keep boys in separate pens, but living in Massachusetts, I'm concerned about keeping them warm in winter.

Thanks!

bachelor pads with silkies is pretty easy because they are pretty laid back, since they are being raised together just put them in a pen, there may be a few scuffles, but because they are were raised together and are silkies I wouldn't expect much fighting.

Maybe sell them. I hatch out a lot of chicks every year of which around half will be males. I do grow them out and keep the best as my future breeders. I sell my excess males which helps to pay for the feed. Not sure why you want to keep them? I do put them in bachelor coops and pens when they are starting to bother the females. Good luck and have fun...
