Silkie beak injury

I would like some help with my 3 1/2 month old silkie. His name is Fluf(at least I think it will be a he and I do know it I hard to tell the gender of a silkie) and I've had him since he was a few days old. A few days ago he was moved from the chick area to the main flock area permanently after making sure the rest of the flock would be ok with him. We would have put him in a smaller chicken house that is in the run, but that is currently being used to house a bantam cochin with her 3 chick, so he didn't have as much protection. The issue is the usual bullying that happens to new chickens caused a little more damage than I expected. By the looks of it part of the nasal cavity that is reposed to be under the beak got exposed(luckily it doesn't look to be broken). He is my first silkie. I am a new member of BYC and this is my first post because my chicken are my family and I would like to know how to treat as soon as possible. I am treating it by applying organic unpasteurized honey on the wound to keep infection out, spraying Vetericyn on the wound, and feeding him fresh oregano to keep him healthy. Any advice will be appreciated.

Hi, welcome to BYC! :frow

Sorry you are having trouble.

I would think one or the other on the wound should be plenty. And after initial treatment would *probably* leave it alone.

It's always interesting to see Silkies with a straight comb. I can't tell for sure from those pics if he is a boy for sure or not.

Wish I could be more help. :fl

Thank you I just don't want Fluf getting sick. Tomorrow I will be helping my mom take two cats to the vet so I will ask him if there is anything special that needs to be done.
