I have a 3-year-old silkie rooster. I have had him separated from other roosters because a storm damaged our coop and he is special to me. Today I let him out for a little bit while we were fixing the coop and he decided to fight with some of the roosters. He now has some gurgling and blood in his mouth. I checked his down his throat with a flashlight for any trauma there and I couldn't find anything. My best guess is he possibly broke a blood vessel in his trachea or lungs. He is separated again. Is there any treatments or supportive care I could do? There are no vets in my area that will treat chickens.

How is he doing now?

Often when they have been in a fight, they can get kicked up the side of the head/beak and of course the chest.
Having a little blood inside the beak, I just usually take a wetted Qtip and swab out the blood and debris. Check to see if the beak is cracked, sometimes this will bleed too.
Gurgling can be caused from getting kicked in the chest/crop. Most of the time this will clear up pretty quickly.

Separate the rascal and offer him some warmed sugar water. You want to get him through some shock. He's a Silkie and can be more prone to suffering head trauma, so once you get him drinking and eating. I'd get Vitamin E (400IU) and 1/4 tablet B-Complex into him daily for a week.

If you have photos you wish to share, that would be good.

Keep me posted.
