I'm thinking cockerel. The hackles look pointy, the saddling might be delayed. Could be a late bloomer. The crest looks to have streamers which is a sign of being Male.

Oh I don’t know a thing about roosters. The other chickens (2 golden comets, 2 ameraucana, and 1 leghorn are much bigger than him. The few times they were free ranging together, they’d peck him pretty hard.
