Silkie breeders please help.

I have 8 blue silkies and I eventually want to have splash and black colors. so if i breed my blues together to get splash and black and separate the colors into black pens and splash pens, will they stay black and splash, or will they have the blue gene and hatch blue chicks as well as black and splash?
I know black X black will breed black and splash X splash will breed splash, but what if they come from blue chicks? i am really confused. i just ordered some poultry genetics software online and it shows all the possible chicks and organizes breeding pens but i haven't got it in the mail yet.

I got the silkies from indigo egg(i have to say that i am too proud of my flock)

So the short answer is yes, black to black will only give you black, even if parents were blue.

If you want a really long answer...I can give you that too.

what about lavender silkies
i really want to breed that color and Bobbi said i can get that color from my blues. how do i go about breeding for that color and if i breed lavender to lavender what do i get?

I really hope this makes some sense:

So say each bird has a genetic code:

BLUE = Bb, BLACK = BB and SPLASH = bb

the chick will receive one set of these from each parent

Bb to Bb would then give you the combination of

bb for splash, BB for black and Bb for blue

BB to BB will only give you BB

bb to bb will only give you bb

BB to bb will only give you Bb

Bb to bb will give you the combination of Bb and bb

so the chick that is black (BB) is so because that is what he received from his parents (one B from each) and if you breed him to another black (BB) the only thing you can get is black (BB) whether the parent was blue or black is irrelevant at this point because the chick is BB

I have no clue about lavender...Hopefully Sonoran Silkies will see this and can offer up some help with that one.

Splash is two blue genes. Blue is one blue, one black gene, the black chicks are double black.

And a double black chick may be black but the blue in the background counts for what it is HIDING, including possible demelanizers.
