Silkie breeding, genetics & showing

I have 3 sillkies that I am considering showing at the Newnan show. Does anyone mind if I post pics for your critique? Some things I am sure on but some not so sure. I am still learning at this stage. Thanks!

Thanks...will get some pics tomorrow if the rain permits. Here is one of my blacks. But they are not real good pics and she was still recovering from a molt.

From these pictures she looks like a very nice, typie bird. I would check her wings though. They look like she is carrying them weird. If the primaries fold outside of the secondaries she may have slip wing. or if there is a noticeable split in the wing where the feathers on each side curve away from each other she has split wing.

Exactly what I was wondering. I will try to get a recent pic. That one was from last summer. Thanks so much!

Lol..yes. Totally did NOT intend to come home with more birds. My buff is very light, but I like it. I'm guessing she is carrying some sort of white gene.. These are my new girls:

EDIT: The light on the buff brings up another question...will I be able to show her as a buff? Or would she have to go in AOV?
Solid white feathers in a buff is a DQ, partially white is a fault. I don;t really see white, just pale buff, but plumage changes as they mature.

Ok, any one have any idea how this little chick happened? I have a Cuckoo rooster in with B/B/S hens only. I am pretty sure the mom was my Blue frizzled silkie hen (but not 100% sure). This little chick hatched out last Thursday, and it is all white/cream looking, gray beak, and pink legs. Now that it is starting to feather in it doesn't look pure white, but a creamy color. I also know that my one blue frizzle hen hatched out looking partridge, but is now a nice rich blue. Not sure how that effects the genetic makeup. Still learning it all. Any help would be grateful!

At least one parent is not silkied; note the normal feathers coming in on the wings...a white chick from non-white parents means that both parents have one copy of recessive white and the chick hit the 25% jackpot.

Ok, I was starting to wonder about it's wings (I guess I was in denial since there are only silkies in that pen now) About 3 months back the silkies were in a mixed pen with a Red Pyle Modern game rooster. I thought it had been long enough time that had passed that they should be throwing pure silkies by now. I was thinking of setting some eggs this month, but if they are still throwing mixes how long should I wait?

Thanks! On her other side, some of her primaries are buff on one side, white on the other. She is a very young bird, so maybe they will change a bit. My daughter wants to show her in 4H, so it wouldn't be a huge show or anything...and I'd only be out like $4 even if she is DQed. I just think she is super cute.

Both of these birds are about 8 weeks old

Are silkie chicks more susceptible to pasty butt?

I hatched 15 and it seemed that I had to wash a lot of butts, more than regular chickens. It doesn't make sense since all chicks are downy at first.
