okay i would like if it was a pulllet because that's what I want

but it's just so much taller and gives more presence than my little one, she's very squatty. That's why I thought she could be a he. but oh well I will know in time.

No he was just slumped down because he was still wet

I will post another picture, I do think he is a male though the way he holds himself while walking and keeps watch over the other one. He is about 6 months old. the bottom of his tail is still a little wet and weighed down so it looks a little drooped, but you can see a good one of him a couple pages back.
Also, do you think she's buff? or some weird mix? some have said dark porcelain, I thought maybe light partridge, can anyone tell maybe in her after bath photos? I was told she had the chipmunk like markings as a baby but then got lighter than the rest.

No, I don't think it's a Buff. I think that color is a "oopsie" color! LOL!!! I think it's a breeders cull or someone experimenting around to see what X what will give you.

I'm not sold on your boy being a boy. Get a close up of the face and beak and comb.

Fall-hatched chicks not growing as large is "old time breeder lore." There is some evidence to back it up, but I think a LOT has to do with local climate (say Maine or Manitoba versus Arizona or Kawaii) nd some has to do with modern versus "old timey" poultry feed. Also, some breeds tend to grow more slowly than others, and ones that hatch in the fall may not be large enough for spring showing simply because of their age. If you hatch in November, the birds will only be 4 months old for a March show, and in some parts of the country that is getting really late to show. Alternatively, a bird hatched in March will be seven months old for a November show, and while that is still on the young side, it is quite a bit older than 4 months. In my experience birds, males epecially tend to continue to grow and develop for two to three years.
Very interesting!! Good to know. :)

yeah, as I said, get a good tight shot of the comb/beak.

At six months, my boys are already crowing.

Yeah the breeder just gave her to me. But she's pretty none the less
big_smile.png
even if I can't show her she's full of spunk. Here's a pic of the splash I took today but didn't post.

That's an awfully small comb for 6 months. I'm thinking girl. ;)
X2 --- looks like a girl from that picture. :)

I have a splash girl that I couldn't decide if it was a he or a she because she is leggy and likes to stand tall like a roo. She finally laid an egg and solved the mystery. :D
Her a photo of her at 5 months.
Pretty!! They sure can go either way! LOL!

I often hear people saying: "That beak is a feminine beak" what does that mean? How is a beak different in a male?
I find this to be accurate about 70% of the time. It is very subtle but the boys have more of an eagle looking beak. A harsher hump on the end half. I've tried to demo here. Hope it helps. :) I haven't determined at what age to start checking but I'm starting to think about 8 wks.
