Silkie Can't see because of feathers!

Silkies tend to have a lot of new feathers coming in through the head which causes flakes of casings, hence combing helps remove those. What you're seeing could be head lice or dead feather particles. Heres a pic of one rooster who has new feathers coming through.

They are many treatments, powder, liquid added to water to dunk the animal in etc
I use ivermecton cattle pour on. I put a few drops on the skin of a chook and within three days they are free of any lice, it is absorbed through the bloodstream so there is no wastage like there tends to be with powder. But the ivermectin is not a poultry treatment so it isnt really recommended but its the only thing that I found kills every type of mite etc. I use it on chickens, turkeys and guinea fowl.
Having a spot where they can dust bath is a good idea.
 
Do you mean ashes from a fire? Never heard of doing that so wouldnt be able to confirm if it works. I dont know how it would be around the face and with them breathing in the ashes?

us I do mean that and oh, yeah, I never thought about that, be have oak tree ashes in so e thing for them to dust bathe in so....:/
