My husband surprised me with 6 silkie chicks yesterday. But one of my chicks has curled toes or clubfoot. Both feet are curled but one leg is much worse than the other. I watched some videos about bracing the toes to correct this issue. I have already took some cut up fabric band aids used as braces and spread the toes and taped them. I want to know if anyone else has dealt with this issue. How did you treat it? How successful were your treatments? Can I save this chick?

Clubbed foot chickens often survive just fine but it definitely should be corrected asap if possible. I have also heard encouraging them to roost (when they are big enough) also helps their feet become more aligned.

As long as they are not over a few days old, taping the toes works just fine. Change it out every other day. Their feet grow very fast. It shouldn't take more than a few days, and the toes should be fine, unless it's genetic, or the toes broken.

I've done it a couple times. A week later, you can't tell the toes were ever curled.
