hi,
we have a silkie hen she has a foggy eye... she can see out of it and when the vet came he said to try Vet RX we have not had a chance to try it yet she keeps getting feathers in her eye we wipe it at least two times a week with a warm wash cloth....
it seems to be getting better now but we wanted to know what it was from... didn't know if any of you would know it has been like that ever since we got her as a chick with three other hens

what could be wrong with her i don't know

we have trimmed them but there are like no feathers around the eye except in her head we have trimmed those but they are really short it is foggy/glossy sometimes when she doesn't have anything in her eye she gets a lot of shavings in it too but we get those out as soon as they get in here eye as well as the feathers

if its been like that ever since she was a chick it's likely a birth defect of sorts. you can try using a product called colloidal silver. its all natural and works like a antibiotic and antiseptic. you can find it in the health food store. get the bottle with 500parts per million or ppm of silver. I use it for my silkies eyes if they get irritated.it's very good. and works very well. it will certainly clear up the eye if there is any irritation going on. it couldn't hurt to try it. but because she's been like this since she was young I doubt it will go away. its probably something she was born with. how old is she now? I'd give the silver a try and see if it might help her. best wishes to you.

you put the silver directly into the eye. it really helps a lot with eye issues. I'm curious why did he think vetrx would help? isn't that put into the water for respiratory issues? I have a bottle of vetrx myself and as I understood it it was a natural remedy for respiratory illness. maybe it does more than I know about. I wouldn't think it would help the eye but who knows. give it a try and see
if it did not help give the silver a go. best of luck!

thanks he said that she could have a respiratory infection or something and that could cause the eye to be like that... i will try it and if it doesn't work i will try the stuff you said about again thanks
