Silkie chickens and some crosses? No eggs

They are beautiful! Can you keep a bachelor flock? There is obviously a 50/50 chance of getting boys or girl with unsexed chicks. Silkies are the among the most difficult.
If you want to be sure with silkies, you can buy a "guaranteed" pullet that has been DNA tested at hatch (the inner membrane of the shell is used) or with feathers when about 6 weeks of age. These can be expensive though.
Alternately, you can try again with a new batch of chicks or try hatching your own.:)
Eggs weren’t the main reason for keeping chickens. It was as a pet and nicety for my toddler etc and part of the countryside feels.
I suppose at least if one was a pullet it would have been hounded !!
I would have liked to tried breeding them though :idunno
