Silkie chicks, sand in the brooder?

At the end of may my 6 silkie hatchlings will be arriving. I read that sand is wonderful to use in the brooders, however I've also read that silkies and sand don't go along too well. Would sand be okay to use or a big don't do it?

It'll be fine, I've never heard not to use sand with Silkies (or any other chick for that matter). They'll probably eat some in their excitement over new bedding material, but they do the same with shavings too. Good luck with your Silkies, you'll love them!!!
