Silkie chicks started out black and turning orange?

I get Partridge, Blue Partridge, White Barred, & Silver Partridge out of mine. Some of mine are also split for Lavender.
Buff silkies are Columbian with a partridge base.

Silver Columbian isn't that common in silkies, but they do pop up.

Can we see a picture of the parent birds?
I’m guessing the chick came from my buff roo and my white hen.

All silkies originate from China 🙂

The difference I've seen between UK and US silkies, is that you've bred extra poofiness and much larger crests, while UK silkies have slightly harder wings and tails (the roosters still have the central feather rachis there).

We always joke over this side of the pond that Americans always like it bigger and better! 😁 Not always a bad thing!

Do you keep silkies?
Yes, true, but also true Chinese silkies are LF, & have imperfections, & are also white.

Those are a couple of my LF Silkie Roosters. Yep, I own silkies.

Here's a few of our SQ Bantam Silkie roosters.

Cute! I raise silkies too! My Partridge usually start out looking like chipmunks as babies then as they feather out they are Partridge colored. I do know that black silkie roosters bleed through with brown feathering around the neck.here is my boys, you can see the neck feathering isn't solid. Still so beautiful! Is there a silkie who isnt!?
