They are about 5 weeks old. 3 out of the 5 have curled toes. I got them from an auction, but they're eating starter. What am I doing wrong? No other chicks have had this. Is it genetic?

Some chickens just have curled toes. Nothing you did wrong.

It is a little late in the game to attempt to straighten them out but they should get along just fine. They will be less agile and mobile but nothing necessarily worrisome about it. Especially being silkies.

Some curled toes are curled into a claw which is a vitamin deficiency (riboflavin.) Simple curled toes to the side can be hereditary, and some say from fluctuations in incubation temperature and sometimes can be taped to mold back in shape if done early. Here are pictures of riboflavin deficiency:

We have one with curled toes. You can make chicken booties to get them to stand up again :)
