I supposedly have silkie chicks, but I've read that silkies have 5 toes on their feet. Mine has 3 toes, is this normal?:

It's normal for them to have 3 front toes, but they should have 2 back ones on each foot also. Do yours have 2 back toes? (sometimes they can be slightly hidden if they have feathers on their legs/feet)

I'll check, and post another picture of the feet. :)

I got some "silkies" out of the bantam bin at TSC once some have 5 toes some have 4 and some have 5 on one foot and 4 on the other. But they have black skin, feathered feet and silkie feathers. Just my experience with hatchery silkies.

Are they definitely silkies? Because, I got mine from TSC too. And what you are explaining is really describing mine. :)

They are silkies, just not show quality. Kinda like heritage Rhode Island Red vs. production red. TSC gets those from large hatcheries that don't really breed to the standard of perfection. They will most likely grow up to look like silkies for the most part.

Do you think that they will show the normal silkie qualities? Like not flying?
