Silkie/Cochin X gender... EDIT: SEE POST 33!

Not if you are thinking purebred.

I thought you said silkie cochin cross. I am no genetics expert

but given the dark legs and dark, pea-ish/small walnut style comb, I would think silkie crossed with something.

Could be silkie/cochin cross - the middle toe looks well feathered and body shape is roundish like a cochin. I would think if silkie and one of the other breed crosses, the body would be more upright (if that makes sense). but that look could also be the pictures and how the bird is standing.

Tell that to my 3 month old cochin roo! He's had saddle feathers for over a month!

my oegb is about 7 months now and his saddles werent coming in to were you could see them till he was 5.5 months old

also with that beard and the volture hocks along with the feathering on the legs and the toes i would say more of a d'uccle x silkie mix

My BR Roo is 5 months old and has barely any hackle/saddle feathers. He does have sickle feathers though.

Silkies (pure) can have hackle feathers young. I know a lot I have seen (age 4 months) have lots of them.

This cross looks feminine. Could go either way though. I wouldn't rely too much at this age on the hackle/saddle feathers.
