So my aunt has a pair of silkies bred from me, From my black pen. I have a black roo who has some gold in his hackles over two black hens. (The hen and roo are siblings the ones my aunt has)

This is what she is getting

Is this splash or lavender?

Here is two new chicks hatched from the same birds yesterday.

I am thinking this one is going to feather in black with some gold?

And this one is the same color as the 1st older chick was when it hatched so Splash or Lavender? Oh and on the tip of its toes is pink what causes that?

Last chick is too washed out to tell what it looks like. The one before that is a partridge. Hard to say at this point as to whether the first is splash or lvaender--there are a lot of splits floating around out there, and also a lot of very dark blues that look black. Give it some time and post pics again in a month or two.

How in the world could partridge come from black?

The black who provided the pattern gene was probably E/e^b. Chick inherited e^b and Pg from that parent, the other parent also provided e^b. Thus, a partidge chick. That is how it could have happened, and probably did. That is if the stripes I am seeing on the chick are indeed chipmunk stripes and not just the way the still-damp down looks.
