Silkie Color and gender ??

I just traded for these Silkies. What color are they? AND is the first pic a pair> Roo on the left, Hen on the right?

I have no clue on the genders (I'm thinking you would be correct on the pair, but not sure) But I do have a question, do you keep a top on the superyard XT that you have the babies in? If not are they able to fly out? Would an adult silkie be able to fly out?

The xpens are temporary quarentine pens that I keep tops on. They are so easy to clean in between visitors.
I do not know if the silkies would fly out....these are my first, but all the other breeds could and do fly out. If you make the pen long like a rectangle you can use large plastic container lids to cover it.

No idea on the colors, but they both look like roosters to me

Both have quite a bit of streamers coming of the back of their heads.

They both look like roos to me. I could be wrong but it looks like a pretty big comb for a female. As far as color they are mixed.

The cock on the left is either a grey or a black with silver in his hackles (I can't see enough of him to tell one way or the other). The cock on the right is a grey with autosomal red; one of the variations of "calico."

I went back out and took another look and I believe you guys are right. I was sold two Cockerels. Dern!!! This woman had to have known they were cockerels. Why do people have to be like that?
Anyone want a silkie roo?

Ahh well....don't want to be dramatic but this is the response from the breeder:
They came from the bloodline ******* in North Carolina, she bought that pair on ebay. The daddy is a blueback spash. So thats why she is sure its a pair and not 2 roos. She was told with them being valted thats why the hen even has a large streamer. So I dont know if that helps or not.

Is there any truth to this? I really want her to be a hen!!!! But need to sell if it isn't.

Never heard of a blueback splash, it's just a mix. As far as sex, if that's female I would be very suprized, like mentioned above, the streamers and large comb pretty much says it for me. A vaulted skull has nothing to do with streamers, not sure what she was trying to prove there, males and females can be vaulted, it just gives the apperance of a larger more upright looking crest. I truly think it's a male
