when you see a bird "shivering" this is how they warm up... adding a good supplement to your feed will help... a bit a scratch in the late afternoon will also be of benefit to them. In cold temps a bird directs all their resources primarily to keeping warm...they will often also eat less (this is why you should add a good general nutritional supplement to their feed or waterer)

I am sorry for your loss.....
I just had a chickie die 2 days ago for no reason at all and it was only a week old
