Not sure where to post this...

My silkies are getting poo stuck on their butt feathers and it is getting to be a mess. I went down this morning and cleaned up one of my girls, but my roo has them too. How to I stop the poo from sticking??

Thanks!

What are you feeding them? How are they housed? Are they seemingly healthy?
You need to make sure that none of the poop is blocking their vent area. Post some pics and give us more info so that we can help you. Oh, and check that there is no dark blood in the poop.

Unfotunately I left town this morning so I won't be able to post pictures for a few days. They are very healthy, well fed, clean water, etc. They are in a dirt run until I have time to figure out a way to keep them safe while free ranging. They eat Purina layer crumbles. They are about nine months old

When mine get them, I cut the hair down there so it won't happen again.

Try more vegetable fiber - bulks up the poop; less sticking. Even a bin of peat moss -which they will ingest - helps with this.

The only problem with cutting their feathers is I want to show them this fall and am not certain they with molt by the time show season comes...
