Silkie ears infected

My sons younger silkies 4-6 mths all have ear infections (7 of them). I removed the blockage and lots of pus was evident. Used some ear clean solution I had from my dogs. 2 days later some r getting better some just as bad. The older ones are not effected, weird. So my question is what should I use to make them better because ones ear is swelled up pretty bad. See picture. The other how does this happen? The guy at the feed store said mites, so I bought some spray and treated them all.

If you have vet care that would be best.
Do they have any lesions/plaques or canker inside the beak or have you noticed any mucous from the nostrils?
Ear infection can be from respiratory illness, bacterial, fungal or viral infections and sometimes ear mites. Check them all over well for any parasites. Getting some testing to determine what the cause is would be a good idea.

You can try dropping a few drops of Hydrogen Peroxide in the ears to boil up the pus, gently remove as much as you can with a qtip and pack the ear with triple antibiotic ointment. An infection like that, the pus needs to be removed in order to start healing, so you may need to clean the ears out daily. Antibiotics may help - you can try using injectable Tylan50 which can be given orally or by injection at 1cc per 5lbs of weight. Weigh each bird so you give the correct dosage.

Watch to see that they are eating/drinking well - they may benefit from some poultry vitamins added to their water a couple of time a week.

Thank you, it's my sons hobby so no $$$ for big vet bills. I'll look for sum tylan50. Even though the older ones beat up the competition at the fair. I sprayed em for mite then 2 jumped into my koi pond....crazy birds

Oh my, did that affect your koi negatively?

I'm afraid I haven't had much experience with ear issues so I am here to learn more myself. (Thanks Kiki!) Wyorp Rock's post is very good.

No experience at all with ears, sorry.
Birds going to shows can be a great place to catch pests and diseases.
