Silkie eggs, 5 more days... seem small?

I had to assist on chick #4. But, once he pushed himself out, he stood right up immediately. he was just positioned in the egg all weird. he ended up coming out feet first.

Yes! 4 hatched. I think the 5th quit last week. It looks too small in there to hatch out, looks like it did 5 days ago when I started this thread. I started with 8 eggs. 1 was infertile. 2 quit, and then the 3rd quit a few days back. so a 50% hatch rate. I'm so excited that they hatched! I can't believe it. SOOOO excited!!! Thank you so much for talking me through all of this, it was very helpful to have someone to chat about it the whole way through.

The 4th chick is also light colored. so 3 light and one darker one. they were sold as BBS. no blacks, potentially some splash, but most likely all blue.

you probably already know this, but when you breed blue you can get blacks. I have bred these blacks and gotten blue and blue splash chicks.

I know, I thought the chicks would have a mix of all 3 coloring, but it is possible that the ones that didn't make it were black or more splash

on that mix, I always seem to get more blues. I get a few blacks and very few splash. Im far from an expert in genetics, so I don't know what the ratio should be on that mix. im assuming it would be the same as breeding 2 blues but I don't know?

Hmmm. to me it looks like they're all blue, but we'll see!
