Silkie falling over

Er, just realised

If she's not been eating -- she didn't get wormed.

Hopefully she'll start eating. Last time I went to the farm shop for wormer all they could show me was stuff for cows!

Do they have Wazine at any feed store near you? How about pour on Ivermectin? The Invermectin will worm them and kill the lice/mites. About 3 drops on her back between her shoulders...spread the feathers and drop it right on the skin.

It doesn't take a lot of lice/mites to kill them if they have them long enough. They suck their blood and make them weak. BTW...how large is her crest? I recently had 3 young birds that got weak from not eating and drinking enough. As soon as I trimmed around their eyes they started gobbling up food and water and are fine now.

I'll drive to a few other shops tomorrow but all I've been able to find so far is fenbendazole and one that didn't name its active ingredient on the box, which was worrying.

I have cat/dog wormer here -- I use liquid parazole for the kittens, but can't seem to find out of it's ok for poultry and I won't try.

There are a few farm supply stores around (this IS farm country after all) so if a haircut doesn't suddenly make her hungrier, I'll go hunting for wormers tomorrow.

Thanks for all your advice. There are so many things I would never have thought of.

Sadly we lost Loonie last night. Woke up this morning and she was on her side in the crate.

Poor little thing -- how did we not notice she was getting so thin?

It's an easy thing to do. So sorry for you. Now I pick up every one at least once every 7-10 days just to "lay hands" on them.
