Silkie feet

UPDATE. So I’ve been washing his feet everyday in epsom salt and alternating between vasaline and A&D on his feet and vegetable oil on his legs. I have been doing this for the past 11 days straight. I have him separated in a large dog crate cage with a sod grass bottom so his feet don’t get dirty.his feet look amazingly better I would say about 70% or more of all scales have come off!! I know I’m about to hit that 10-14 day mite life cycle so I’m not sure if I should keep him in the cage for another week or if I can let him out and lower the frequency of the soaking and vasaline. The reason I’m asking is because he seems sad in the cage.. I know he misses being out with the other chickens and free ranging. It sounds funny but I can tell the difference in him.
Slather on some more vaseline or A+D and let him with the others. Being isolated, I'm sure is depressing him. Just keep up the good work of treating his feet:)

Lost scales will take time to be replaced, but it sounds like he is doing good!

UPDATED PICS. So today I gave my silkie Elvis his first bath ever.. never given a chicken a bath before . The vasaline has made him so dirty. I gave him a bath the water was black.. thought I was doing a good job until I was blow drying him and his legs and under carage are just so greasy.. ‍♀️ Anyways his feet look amazing compared to what they looked like before so obviously the treatment is working. I don’t know what to do about how greasy he is though.. should I just wait it out and he will get new feathers or should I try and give him another bath in a couple days.

The feet are looking good, your hard work is paying off:thumbsup

I would still work on getting the longest nails trimmed up-that can be another slow process, trim a little, then wait for the cuticle to recede so you can trim more.

As for the vaseline, it will eventually wear off as he take dust baths and moves around. You may want to wait until you finish all of your treatment if you feel like he needs to be bathed. It's not good to give them a lot of baths since that strips away oils in the feathers.

You are doing a great job with him:clap

For nail trimming, I found this article very helpful. Like dog nails you have to know what you are doing and looking for in order to relax so it can be a good experience for you and your chickens :old

With access to a patio stone he may be able to keep his nails and break nice once they are in good shape.
Good luck
