Your top roo looks like a lavender to me. I have lavenders that are lighter than others and darker ones. I would have to say that is a lavender. Not all colors are the same darkness or lightness in color.

The "facial growth" that you mentioned is called a beard. Silkies can be bearded or non-bearded. Both roosters and hens can have beards, so you can't use the growth of a beard to determine sex.

As for color, the first one is definitely white. And both are roos.
