He has blue on his face! Rescue is such a sweet rooster! Has anyone else seen facial color in silkies?

I raise and breed silkies and no, haven't seen that. I'm going to look a few of them over that I've not seen close up in a while though. That's the color of their earlobes. Very pretty rooster there!

I wonder if any white faced Spanish genes were ever crossed in, because they make the face match the earlobe colour. Very cool
I used to own some spanish when I was young. I plan on breeding him to see if he passes it to any of his offspring.

I made a thread a while back that has some discussion of this in the pages.
There are pictures of Silkies with blue faces.
Ear Color Hypothesis

I still believe in my theory of thicker skin showing the colors (white, yellow, or blue). When I had WFBS before, the skin on the ears and face feels very thick, like deerskin leather. I have WFBS eggs in the bator now to restart my Blue Face project.

I doubt Silkies that show blue face have any WFBS genetics. Rather I think it's just different genes coming together, first to have the color in the ears (all decent Silkies) and then to have thicker facial skin.
