one of my silkie eggs has been externally piped since 6 this morning and hasn't made any progress should I be concerned? It is breathing and moving its beak around and chirping. the other eggs that piped at that time are hatched and dry.

Some can rest 24 hours before they start zipping.

Let it finish absorbing it's yolk and such.

Congrats on your babies! :wee

Can you post a photo? This would be helpful.🙂

not my pic but it lookes like this only a bigger hole (I can't take a pic right now as the lighting is really bad)

Is the chick still clicking it’s beak? If so this is a sign it is still absorbing yolk. It looks like a normal PIP location to me. Around DAY 19, the air cell draws down significantly.😊

If you can see the beak, the chick is able to breathe. I would be hesitant to intervene right away because assisting too early can be fatal. The article I linked is so good. I read it every time I hatch. I promise you won't regret reading it
