I have a silkie rooster who has this strange head twitch/sway. We call him our “funky chicken” 😬. We started noticing it when he was a small chick and it went away for the most part and just came back again. He is now about 12 weeks old. I am thinking it may be a vitamin deficiency but I wanted to confirm. I am offering Save-A-Chick powder water in the run now hoping it will help. What do you think?

Perhaps he has vision issues? Have you looked closely at his eyes with a light to see if the pupils are reacting normally and that his feathering isn't getting in the way of his sight. Extra vitamins won't hurt so worth a try.

Do the feathers around his eyes need trimming?

The head shaking is a bit odd, any lice or mite in his pouf?

It won't hurt to give him vitamins, but if you want to go that route, go to Walmart, CVS, etc. and get a bottle of Vitamin E and B-Complex.
Give him 400IU Vitamin E and 1/4tablet B-Complex daily along with a little egg as a treat.

Do his eyes look ok to you? They seem different from the other chickens I have but they are all different breeds.

I can't really tell from the picture. I've never had silkies so hopefully someone that has can chime in on their eyes. If you shine a flashlight on the eye does the pupil react? If not and from the behavior, I'd suspect a vision impairment.

I can try that at night and see. 👍
