silkie hen abandoned chicks she hatched

hello. I am very upset as I placed two eggs under one of my broody silkies and she hatched them perfectly. We placed the mom and the babies in a container in the coop with their own water and food. the container is only about a foot tall. Then three days later she left them and went back into a nesting box. They unfortunately passed away before we even knew the mother left them. I am perplexed as to why this happened and would like to learn where i messed up so it doesn’t happen again.

They need to be under heat if the hen is not with them.. so they were probably too cold.

Some hens are good at hatching out eggs but then lose interest.

The Hen went but her Chicks weren't able to follow her..They got too cold.

IMO, don't move the hen and the chicks. Leave them in the nest box.
