I have silkies. One has gone broody and I gave her chicks. She accepted them and is currently doing a wonderful job. I also have two silkie mixes who have hatched chicks and did a wonderful job. Now that said, I have one white silkie who is beautiful type of Silkie with the big head PomPom and fluffy feet. She is about 1 year old and has laid maybe 10 eggs in her life. She is now on strike no eggs for two weeks. She walks around squawking a lot. What gives? She's not broody, why not an egg once and a while? What's with all this squawking. Could she be broody and just doesn't know what to do? I tried putting her in the broody cage with eggs and that didn't work at all. She misses her pal who is my Buff Silkie Rooster (Frick) and he comes when she cries and won't go into the coop. Any advise on either getting her to be broody or getting her to lay? Or Silkie behavior in general ? She also takes spells in which she wants to stay on the roost and not come down unless Frick comes to get her. Is she spoiled by her man or has he beat her into submission? TIA Melissa
