Silkie hen + Frizzle Roo = ? (1 month update)

I had another one hatch today. All black from skin to feathers. All 4 chicks so far have single combs and 4 toes. The three black ones have a little bit of a poof on their heads. The white one has none. If I didnt know better, I would think it was 100% cochin bantam. It has no obvious silkie traits at all.

Another one today! This one is yellow and red. Light slate skin, only 4 toes. Single comb.

This is the whole group so far. The one from yesterday is the dark one on the right. Kind of looks like it is going to be a dark blue.

If they are hatching with only 8 toes, then the silkie parent must be split for polydactyly (assuming it has 10 toes). Backcross to silkies to bring back more silkie features.

Pictures of the whole bunch so far. We are still waiting on one egg to hatch. But so far 4 yellow and red and 4 blue/black/brownish ones. Two frizzled, one suspect, the rest smooth except one that has not started to get its feathers yet.

Annnnnnnnd, number 9 hatched today. 4 toes, single comb. Not a single one had 5 toes. The broody hatched 100% of the eggs that were fertile. 2 EE eggs that she was on were not fertile and there is a barnyard mix egg under her now that has about 1 week to go, more or less.

1 Month old, more or less. The smallest ones are three weeks old. Pretty sure the big one is a rooster. End result is 5 out of 9 are frizzled. Its crazy how no two look even similar.

They do not have a lot of curl to them but they definitely are frizzled and Sizzled. High humidity can take the curl out some, too. And to see them wet is so funny! Talk about bad hair day!

Here is one of mine at 3 wks old.

All of mine have one curly parent and one smooth parent.

Yours are going to be so cute growing up! They are hilarious to watch.

Yeah, my frizzle rooster has straight wing feathers, so they arent going to be as frizzled as they would be if their parent had curly wing feathers probably. I need to find some very curly frizzles to throw in with them and maybe their offspring will be more frizzled.
